Here’s a lung busting Freestyle shout out to Matt Myers for putting together the 2008 Schralpfest in Santa Cruz. Just check out the flyer and you’ll get the picture, there is going to be a ton of free goodies for you to get your grubby little hands on. Whether you’re a competitor or not, head on down on Saturday and support the cause. And try to give Matt a wedgie for us. In fact, we’ll give a free shark watch to the first person that gives Mr. Myers a proper wedgie!

Hopefully Tavarua’s famous Cloudbreak and Restaurants will be going off. n the name of fundraising for the Newport Harbor High School Surf Team, Team Freestyle made their presence known and took home some hardware. Victor Done and Kaleigh Gilchrist, both current members of the NHHS Surf Team both made the podium. Kaleigh took top honors in the Women’s division, while Victor placed 2nd in High School division and 4th in the Open Men’s. In a shocking turn of events, Freestyle Marketing Director Chad LaBass came out of retirement to take home 1st Place in the Open Men’s. Apparently Chad graduated from NHHS way back in 1993, so it’s was good to see he could still mix it up. He must have been inspired by Kelly Slater’s recent back to back WCT victories at age 36. LOL!
Once again Sage Erickson has made the case that she’s not just another pretty face, rather she’s a pretty face that’s in it to win it. Although only 17, Sage took 2nd Place in the 2008 Van’s Pier Classic an Association of Surfing Professionals 2-Star Event, just being edged out by event champion Courtney Conlogue. If Sage just keeps knocking on the door and eventually she’s going to bust it down. Look out surfing world, Sage has got mad skills.
